“Inquisitive mind”

WHICH ONE ARE YOU?

Time is not long enough in the eyes of ambitious individuals.  It is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity wherein they cannot stop but grab by whatever means their satisfaction.  What’s left behind doesn’t matter anymore as long as they keep their needs thoroughly supplied.  Step by step, they managed to conquer the glory that isn’t appropriate to beget.

There are many times that we are whirled by daring choices to reach perfection.  But is it "just" to take something you know isn’t rightfully yours?  With all due respect, nothing in this world is permanent but only to change.  Does it not seem quite elaborate!  We understand it but still urged to reach it.

We are given the knowledge to think in order to know the difference between good and evil.  Every choice should be weighed before being acknowledged.  But since the minds are being clouded with selfishness, it’s impossible to think twice especially when you knew that you’re not the only one to do such reckless act.

Individuals incorporate themselves with varieties of behaviors, being shown secretly or vulgarly.  This made them visible or invincible, strong or vulnerable, and even becoming popular or a jerk.

For compulsive individuals, they tend to seize whatever glory is present in their path.  They enjoyed lustfully the grandeur in their hands but unknowingly it will soon fade as fast as they could ever imagine.  Regrets will soon feed their minds and clouded them all through out.

If you saw a man lying down in a corner experiencing unstoppable shaking of the body with bubbling of the mouth, what would you do?  If you saw a man grabbed a cell phone from a student, what would you do?  If you saw an old woman fell on the ground and quickly stand up because of embarrassment, what would you do?  If you saw them cheat, what would you do?

Which one are you, a person who just watch things happen or make things happen?

One cannot please everyone but one can always be someone.

Some answered this way, "If you can’t beat them, join them!" while others shout, "You know the difference between right and wrong, so why choose wrong?"

To some this is just a simple text with no further importance on their daily living but believe me, you may encounter this when you’re caught in the middle and cannot anymore stand the consequences of the choices given to you.

You may think it’s unfair but for others it’s what they called living! *Jcen

“Conversation of Love”

January 30th, 2006 by joycen-15

THE TALK

If you see me walking with someone else

It’s not because I like his company

It’s because you were not brave enough to walk beside me

If you hear me talking about him all the time

It’s not because, he pleases me

It’s because you were not there to catch me when I fall

I feel lost, I am nowhere

I don’t know where the road is going

Are we gonna cross each other’s path

Or just completely turn around?

Will we just let go of what we have

Or go to a place where love is bound?

Don’t let me walk with him

It’s you I wanna walk with

Don’t let me talk to him

It’s you I wanna talk to

Don’t let me fall for him

It’s you I wanna fall in love with

THE ANSWER

When you thought I wasn’t brave enough to walk beside you

I was behind you, every step of the way

Still filled with awe because of the beauty that stands before me

When you thought I was deaf to hear your heartbeat

I didn’t want to assume anything

And I was afraid to lose our friendship

When I thought I wasn’t there to catch you

It was because you never gave me the chance

You never reached the bottom,

You already grabbed the branch.

If you feel you are nowhere,

I, too, am lost

I, too, don’t know where the road is going

Are we gonna cross each other’s path?

Will we just let go of what we have?

Or go to a place where love is bound?

Don’t let me talk of something else

It’s you I want to talk to

Don’t let me talk of something else

It’s you I want to talk to

Don’t let me fall for someone else

It’s you I wanna fall in love with

Nothing Is Impossible

W.R. Gresham (1970) proclaimed that nothing is impossible. Gresham had a varied career, which included being a poet, farmer, journalist, salesman, lecturer, cane cutter, author, and managing director of International Correspondence schools for Australia and New Zealand (Spurgeon Wentzell: Surrendering To Moral Reasoning: Messiah College: 1997).

He engaged himself in different fields thus came up with an inspirational book which was highly commended by its readers. He encountered different businesspersons and asked for their opinions and even the story behind their successes and failures. He even included stories in history that may enlighten the spirit of a person. From his journey, he had compiled memories that can be cherished and will be cherished by those who had and will read his book. To inspire the crowd is his motive; with his writings he was able to open the minds of those who seek something out of themselves. To cultivate such passion to start a new life and leave the edge even. The will to do has something to contribute on the outcome of one. Things may never happen as what we expect but at least we had chosen at our will without thinking twice. We can take precautions and never loose a grip of what we once have had if we knew the right path to follow. These circumstances were the particulars that entail what’s inside the book entitled Nothing Is Impossible.

He had imparted a great source of knowledge to be able to face the midst of challenges that we meet everyday. He tends to uplift the virtue that rests inside us for a very long period of time. Awakening from the world of insanity and looseness may pave us to the light which all of us were looking for. Being freed on the cage of obscurity and raising from the mud we had stumbled upon. Out of his book, things apt to change and renew to even more of what we had expected. As we delve on things we ought to have become, we must believe and take prior action. For Gresham, it is us who had the power to drive ourselves either to the direction we always wanted or be stuck on the dessert without any u-turns. The root towards success is a matter of developing our way of thinking. What we think of ourselves as we surpass the trials in life and what we think if we don’t, lead us to a new time to venture. It will affect the outcome we will unravel as we continue and become tired of pursuing. The impossible blocks our mind to become what we want to become. The fear of losing something in the expense of supposedly the things we should have, bares us. Everything is connected to one another like a puppet with strings attached on every part of it so as to move and show the right act of performance. Gresham believe that if we think we can’t then it won’t but if we think that we can then it will. It depends on how we handle every situation that surrounds us. If we fail, we must not remain at frail rather strike back and take another chance to bring back what was taken as you fell down. Every chance we take exclaims lessons that needed to be heard and revealed in front all the odds. Through it, we learn and become strong. The steps we made have consequences but it shouldn’t be a barrier to lead once again. Inside Nothing is Impossible, all that was broken will be healed and all that was lost will be recovered. These challenge not just the mind but also the heart and soul. As what was imparted on the latter part, we are all connected and a single action gives varied impacts. It will test how well we can overcome the details of our life and begin from nothing which is likely impossible and clueless.

As we open our minds and seek on the words being thrown by the book, we will realize that we are reflecting and at the same time feel the new us. The fears and worries are being surfaced but pampered slowly to disappear as we master the skill of learning. We may even realize that we are competing against ourselves and become bewildered on what we may find out. We stepped on sand which is loose and can easily be carried away to the rock that stayed intact and unbreakable. This sets us to the world of the impossible yet now possible because we believe. Believing on the Great Architect or Creator leads us this way of optimism. Because of Him, we existed with purposes which are yet to be unlocked when the time is right. As Gresham elaborated, He made order thus he was considered the most powerful of all that exist and does not exist. There may have evolved different beliefs but we can’t blame their eruption because man seeks continuously seek to content his needs and find his happiness. What’s important in this matter is that we never leave our faith unattended and relentlessly keep on to what we believe will raise us from pain and suffering as days passed by.

Having differences in life even contributes a lot on our development due to the effects it prevails. The word impossible was encountered when we had competitions and according to Gresham, it is a way of evolving. In this process, we are tested to the edge and sharpened till the last drop of our perspiration to succeed. The more we are challenged, the more we become tough. From the book Nothing is Impossible on page 37 based on Henry Kaisser:

“If you can’t go under, go over;

If you can’t go through, go round.

If you can’t go right, go left;

if you can’t get an angle, take two plates and make it.

If you haven’t the right material, go get it.

If you can’t find it, make substitutions;

If you can’t substitute, improvise, make an innovation;

But above all, GET THE JOB DONE!”

These lines prove how true the title of the book was. In it we can observe that in every problem there’s a solution encrypted to be taken or disregarded. The choice is always ours to make and ours alone to handle. But then there’s always an exemption to every rule so as to balance the weighing scale of our growth to learning.

Our future is something to be prepared but isn’t it true that we oftentimes focus our ideals on money? Happiness varies to each one of us. There are times that our happiness can be overcrowded or plainly simple. This is which may change because as we meet different journeys in life, we ought to change and bring new vision. It is just normal and truly is a part of growing. Those who do not which to left behind grow faster and those who had a strong grip to failures become slower and weaker. Gresham revealed that nothing is beyond doubt impossible if he overcome all obstacles.  Why is it so? Let’s say the obstacles had reached the limit of our strength and had been pounding us so hard that we couldn’t bare the pain as it dig dipper. Gresham wished to convey that we need to inculcate a reserve so as when the time comes that the tests of time whip us with such ordeal; we will still be able to hang on until it ends. We may be left broke at the end but not as broke like those who haven’t prepared because as soon as we learn to look on the situation, we can easily stand again and build a new one. Nothing is impossible to those who persevere. All this will be tackled more as we read the book fully written by Gresham.

He used various persons who encountered such part of haven at the end of their journey. The sharing of experiences gave him the power to touch his reader’s consent and deep seated emotions because they tend to see themselves. Through those experiences, he was able to become a part of their lives as he then share it to others. It’s like, live for others and there you’ll find a part of you being filled with such ecstasy.

This moment leads us to the peak of growth not just for our pockets but also for our selves. Through the literary work of W. R. Gresham, we are able to find something within ourselves which is taken for granted and take it out of our system so as to move on to another state of living. Nothing is Impossible gave us an overview on how we should manage ourselves in order to attain the success we want to gain for a specific occasion. It guides us on the performances we are allegedly to undertake and take safety measures as possible. It even molds the philosophy that we had formed from the start. Our preparation to face the upcoming will be realized with such passion and optimism because of the instructions being conveyed to us as we constantly read the said inspirational book. How we accept the teachings will then reflect on how we take things on our hand to be in motion. The application of it may even change the behavior that we practiced. Gresham may have used the simplest but catchy words in the book however the inspiration was being instilled directly and purposively. Unlike other fiction books that uses provocative languages wherein a dictionary should be your best friend to understand what they want to explain. It may eat a lot of time which can be used to do another chores or habit. Gresham was practical enough to apply what was applicable to be understood. From it, he justified how he can reach to another dimension of another human resource aiming on a comprehensible value of learning so as to nurture.

W.R. Gresham can be considered as one of the richest person in the world because of the things he learned from others yet gained the confidence of others towards him because of his pieces. Not all was brave enough to share and live for others because of pride. Being a self- centered person blocks our opportunities to extend our resources. Our fear hides us from the real success. But we can become rich as he was if we let the negatives out of our system. These negative attracts bad luck so as to escape from it, we must learn to discipline ourselves. Discipline and practice makes perfect but let us not take it seriously in a way that we forget the fun. To be successful, we must be truly happy on what we are doing and on what we have. Gresham shared the practical thinking and actions to undermine.

There was once a rich man in England who trades all his real estate and gave a million dollars to the charity here in the Philippines. Afterwards he married a Filipina and was grateful of the decision he had undertaken. Most likely, it is foolishness for those who longed for richness but heroism for those who have been given the chance to profit on the charity. This entails Gresham’s approach to all of us. We may have been inspired on the words he had taught us on his writings and as soon we had finished it, we will understand more the meaning of living life to the fullest. Happiness is the main perspective and we may find it shortly as we read the book thus be amazed on what we may find. There are times that we tend to find complex answers to simple questions because sometimes we find it elegant thus we neglect to have the simplicity behind all those inquiry.

W.R. Gresham said that the end is just the beginning which is valiantly true. As our beliefs and outlook in life change in every chapter of the book we will then start our own destiny towards the greatness of what we wanted to have become. This inspirational book raised our spirits and bathes us from the depths of our agony in life. For Gresham, our development is also his.-Jcen*

It’s Not the Genes, Pare!

Teacher: Mr. Fredevel "Bruce" Banaag

Remarks: 16/20-draft; late-final draft…intrams kasi!!!!

The usual observation towards an intelligent person collides in his family background. As one of the commercials emphasized, “It’s in the genes, Pare!”. Actually, the inheritance of traits was a factor in achieving remarks in life but not at all times it’s applicable. We tend to generalize, the fact that we don’t know exactly the root of one’s success. This sensation even marked how and what the future may entail to a person.

From the article Moneywatch’04 by Galarpe, there’s a story which entails about a son named Kiyosaki who gave his father a not so good title thus referred to his friend’s father a well-to-do man. His father was highly educated and intelligent, no doubt, for it was evident on his Ph.D. achievement. He was a full scholar and stated as a head of education in the state of Hawaii. Yet Kiyosaki saw his dad struggled to pay the bills. Therefore he named his father, “the poor man”. On the other hand, his friend’s dad who didn’t go past eight grade became one of the richest men in Hawaii. He even left tens of millions of dollars to his family, the church and his favorite charities. So he named him the “rich man”.

Truly, the world is impulsive. Things took effect unsurely and unexpectedly. We are not fully aware of what awaits us in the future thus we can only predict its whereabouts. We serve a pot of hypothesis to our inquiring mind solely to achieve the things we ought to have for the sake of happiness and satisfaction. We derive various expectations behind the unexpected. That’s why we must be careful on judgment because its reality varies on how you make your destiny.

Like the destiny that protrudes on Kiyosaki’s best friend’s father who raised himself from “rugs to riches”. From that event, Robert T. Kiyosaki was inspired and wrote a book entitled, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” (Good Housekeeping, November 2004). He offered practical lessons that will serve as a ladder to richness. Among those lessons shared, one can notice the importance of discipline and confidence to oneself. Thus he implied something like, “Think, apply and be rich”.

Consequently, Karen Galarpe summarized the teachings of Kiyosaki on her article entitled Moneywatch’04. The first lesson he foretold was, “The rich don’t work for money. They have money working for them”. It is a puzzling lesson yet said to be effective. In this manner, an individual must not worship money above all things. As much as possible, one must learn to straighten his thoughts and build a brawny overview towards it. He shouldn’t give in to temptations in order to culminate an additional income. Money is just a thing that needs a right amount of attention. If one intends to work for money, he may loose a part of him that can never be regained again as it was before. For instance, his reputation can be damaged as he dug himself unto it. As he walks on the new direction of his destiny, he will find it hard to go back even though, let us say, he had a vast amount of money in front of him. He cannot use it to change what he had done at that time for no money is equivalent to any second of life. Here, patience and perseverance transpire as he let his money grow without being tainted. This will develop him to the fullest and will give him contentment without prior regret on his decision.

The second was, “Be financially literate.”. Obviously a capital is always important thus it needs to be pampered with knowledge that will hold a great grip on it towards abundance. Finance pertains to money while to become literate is to become wise on how to grow it. Although a person had abundant cash on his savings yet he doesn’t know how to spend it wisely, he would go bankrupt.  At that moment, yearning is not a good reaction thus he must exhibit sageliness. He entered in the world of transactions which needs an immediate response thus he cannot respond with an empty mind. If he knew how to feed his pocket, he must also learn to feed his mind towards success. He shouldn’t relieve himself on luck wherein he may acquire the finance he always wanted. Not at all times luck is at his side but he can make it possible if he knew which is which.

Third was,”Have your own business.”. To broaden one’s capital he must learn to make it grow on certain factor. There are opportunities that will sprout at any side thus he should know where to grab and what to grab. It is a matter of combined mind and body power so as to take effect the third lesson. It will then answer questions like what, where, when, how much and why. These questions will guide him to develop his chosen business.

Fourth was, “Know all you can about taxes and corporations.”. If you know how to spend, you must also know how to save thus it can be found inside corporations. This line of business may send any person to engage in it because of what it offers. Through corporations, he will be able to manipulate his chosen business with less worry on taxation. His taxes will be lesser because he isn’t standing alone to pay such burden. In this way, he can save money unlike in a sole proprietorship. He can use the money being saved from taxation on other means. The more you invest, the bigger the shares. Here, he learns to socialize in order to get what he wants or even more. It is because in a business, he can never make a great fight on survival if he’s alone and just getting started. It will serve as a wall that may protect him against intruders.

Fifth was, “The rich invent money.”. A capital can be a liability so one must be wise enough to cultivate it to the most. This lesson then challenges the mind of any person who engaged in a business to become creative in order to invent money. From scrap to something valuable, a person can yield money. His effort on finding means to compete and become unique among others will get him to the peak of success. Any successful businessperson had their own way to compete which made them stronger and surviving against any crisis. Some of them even came from nothing but because of hard work and their dedication, they had reaped more than one could ever imagine.

And the last one was, “Work to learn.” . Need not to take one’s prides that he always knew everything thus proceed to learning and re-invent oneself and be a fruitful successor. Ideas are meant to be brought out of the system and evolve from it. Once you aim on something, you need to know it first and foremost so as not to cramp when it was handed down to you. This knowledge that you had acquired will supply you as you reach your goal. Even on an open field, you can learn without you knowing it. The terms to which you arrived at welcomes you to success.

All these might bring a person to the tower he wanted to climb and live his life to the greatest. It is not the genes that matters but the strategies and careful manipulation to become rich. Jcen*

Me As I am!

Subject: General Philosophy

Teacher: Mr. Sofio Isaga

Remark: Haven’t returned my paper yet!

A man can be an optimist and a pessimist when it comes to expressing his viewpoint about his belief. An optimistic person refers to those who are realistic, hopeful, has a positive point of view or the one who attempts to look on a brighter side. While a pessimist is related to a coward soldier, people who lack confidence on themselves and those who just let their life be lived by others. Engelbert J. Van Croonenburg, author of “Man”, developed statements of a Christian existentialist viewpoint wherein the two characters of man can be derived. “It is through his (man) own being that man comes in contact with reality (Creator). It is the experience of one’s own existence.” (Philosophy of Man, 1995). An experience that differentiated me from other man. Through my experience, I was able to encounter the light and dark side of living. It molds me to become an optimist or a pessimist for my entire life. It is through my experiences that I was able to pull out my decisions and continuously strive for the better. What I am now is the product of my past, my tool to face the present and my shield as I encounter my future. I was able to build my character at the same time believe on something that I never expect to happen. The reality which pertains to our Creator is another product of my experiences in life. Events like sadness, trials and errors, anger and defeats made me sigh on a corner and ask myself, “Is there really a God? If there is, why did He let this happen to me? He is powerful thus he can undo the bitterness I stumbled upon.” The questions which made me wonder, “Is this the Reality?” After a day or two, I was able to calm down and have my spirit brought to life. As I reminisce what my mind had asked at the test of time, I then proved to myself that through my wickedness I began to take notice of the Creator. It is true that God is powerful and that He knew the past, present and future of my path thus He gave me the chance to explore it myself. But then He was prepared of what might happen as I begin my adventure in the whirl of life wherein that I might forget the reason why I was brought here. Through experience we remember Him,it maybe the awkward thing to look at it but the reality is there. -Jcen*

Inside Politics!

August 29th, 2005 by joycen-15

Subject: Politics And Government With Philippine Constitution

Teacher: Mr. Dennis Dimaano

Remark: Very Good

About President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo

Politics is one hard-hitting ground wherein competitions arise. Politicians combat for power and trust of the people either vulgarly or in a secretive way. In the case of PGMA, she fought for both aims. She tried to hit two balls at the same time which was visibly shown on the television. Her admission intends to strike the trust of the people while her introduction of reform programs seeks the power needed to put it into realization. Her particular goal is yet to be judged whether effective or not by the Filipinos. If it’s not effective, impeachment or another revolution is to be brought up against her governance. But if it did hit, she gets the trophy of the continuation to Presidency.

Impeachment trial is one of the options because PGMA committed a crime during the election, which is, having a conversation to a COMELEC official that is strictly prohibited for a candidate to persuade. In her speech, she clarified that her call is just for the assurance and preservation of her votes and need not to be suspected. Still, she was to be condemned because she pushed her limits wherein she knew it would take her down according to some officials. Undoubtedly, she asked for forgiveness of the people for her tactless deed and strongly emphasized that she’ll face any circumstance to be given to her.

Her announcement tremble Juan de la Cruz for the third time. Some of the mob shouted for her resignation from the Presidency but PGMA hesitated to respond. As a result, her reputation was severely damaged and was continuously pulled to the edge. For her, saying “Sorry” was enough to compensate her mistakes but as she turned back she’ll notice that she left another error. Her words remain nothing without the deed to prove her pure intentions for the country. It only showed how selfishly she wanted to obtain her position and will do anything just to preserve it.

Covering a vast power of governance, PGMA tried to clean her reputation through media. Some criticized that she’s a terrible actress accompanied with a funny accent. We can’t blame her if she wasn’t able to develop such convincing aura. But to be able to capture the concern of the public, she must possess this trait. This is her weakness as compared to her competitor in the last election. Maybe she felt this even before the election, that is why she felt agony. Her lack of self-confidence urged her to make a direct call to one of the COMELEC official which is a big mistake to undertake.

Wherever you take a look at the situation, she is guilty of her actions and need not to be tolerated.

As I analyze the issue, for me PGMA knew she’d taken a lot of risks to be what she is now as she entered politics that is why when opportunity knocked on her door, she rapidly grabs it with such ownership. She doesn’t want to give up what she claimed is rightfully hers despite all of the condemnation she encountered. She greatly believed in herself that she can make a difference for our country only if she’ll be given another chance to prove it. Let’s say her mind overflowed with great ideas to boost our economy, it is still ignorance of law. Imperfection is not an excuse to a crime. That is why we have the term “cautious” to overcome such imperfection. Being imperfect is different from being blind from the truth. As a true Filipino citizen, she must accept the judgment of the people. Truly, it is hard to loose something precious wherein you sacrificed a lot just to obtain it. But as the saying goes “easy come, easy go” wherein we need to accept the fact even though it is hard to let go.

Judgment day is yet to come for her, right now, these were the facts that were absolutely in no doubt. The people knew nothing from what really happened because the wire tapping case had never actually presented its original output, only sliced or shortened version was heard. In short, their attitude revolved only on the events media introduced to them. For this event, they attained different opinions particularly whether to give PGMA a second chance or continuously accuse her of such reckless action. The way PGMA talk to the media also made an impression to the people which relentlessly confuse their judgment. She seemed insincere yet serious which complicates the situation.  As to her political influence and authority to her cabinet members where divided likewise in the views of Filipinos.

Remark: Benemeritus #3

Of all the things I’ve held on my hand

Still there’s a moment of emptiness

An emptiness that clouded my favors

The feeling of numbness

Unsatisfied what life had offered

Tired of all the trials I’ve encountered

I felt my heart narrowed

The pain struck it with vain

I couldn’t help it but sigh,

What am I in the world I desire?

He blessed me with such greatness

Thus I refuse to accept the truth it clutters,

What am I in all of His creations?

Am I just blinded on things I see?

Or deaf on the world I flee?

He sets me free with no direct path to follow,

Endless, profound and full of sorrow,

How will I ever return?

If all I see is a question.

Not a word I heard

But blessed with love He altered.

From pea, I tried to bloom as a tree.

I branch out and sway in thee,

Ready to face the life I often regret

From fall, I blossom in spring

Keep the spirit that keeps you

Thus your worth be remembered even by the few.
